James studied architecture, gaining a BSc from Bath University, a diploma from The Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL and spent a semester at the Städelschule, Frankfurt. He combined his interest in branding and 3D design while working at Atelier Markgraph, Imagination and Interbrand before running his own studio. Projects included the stages for Mercedes Benz at the Frankfurt motor show, the body zone in the Millennium dome and the flagship store for Victorinox in London.
James developed a course on Purpose-led Branding which he teaches in the Faculty of Design Management at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. James also teachers on the Design Masters program in Lucerne, HTW Chur, and at ExMBA level at Zurich Institute of Business Education, CEIBS Zurich Campus.
